Power to Decide’s Social Media Highlights this Quarter
Since July, our social platforms have continued to serve as a digital hub for connection, conversation, and action. From July through September, we used our channels to cut through the confusion and deliver fact-based information on sexual health, birth control, and reproductive rights. As attacks on access persist, we continue to focus on meeting people where they are, offering policy updates and trusted resources when they need them most.
Power to Decide, Bedsider, and AbortionFinder each play distinct roles in meeting the moment. Below, we’re highlighting three posts that sparked conversation, extended our reach, and advanced our mission across digital spaces.
Power to Decide
In September, Power to Decide raised awareness about World Contraception Day and how critical access to birth control is. Our Instagram reel with Interim Co-CEO Rachel Fey uplifted the fact that birth control is health care while acknowledging the harsh reality that it’s still not accessible to everyone. Highlighting the barriers millions of people still face to accessing the full range of birth control methods is important to help create solutions and make policy changes that ensure equitable access for all.
We’re committed to protecting and expanding access to birth control through our policy advocacy, because everyone deserves the power to make their own decisions about their health, their bodies, and their futures. Additionally, Bedsider.org serves as a critical resource for young people seeking accurate, sexual and reproductive health information. From the method explorer to options for online delivery services, Bedsider is here to provide people with the information they need to make the best decisions for themselves.
Bedsider
This quarter, Bedsider partnered with TikTok creator Julieta Del Carmen to explore a new way to reach young people. Using ASMR’s calming sounds and gentle tone, the collaboration brought sexual health conversations to audiences in a creative and approachable way. Julieta brought her signature doctor-style role-play to life in nine videos, sharing the basics about various birth control options, including one video entirely in Spanish. Julieta’s calming and reassuring style in the sex education space helped this social-forward series strike a chord. The collaboration has now surpassed 4 million total views, driving a surge of new followers and site visits, introducing thousands of people to Bedsider as a trusted source for birth control information.
Comments poured in from viewers who were grateful to finally find approachable, judgment-free education about their birth control options, with many saying it was the first time they’d learned about these topics anywhere:
“Thank you for talking about this, reproductive health can be so unbelievably terrifying and it’s honestly helping me hype myself up to go to the gynecologist.”
“Feels like my big sister, thanks for the tips.”
“LoOoove this content. Como Latina Americana, me encanta saber que hay creadores de contenido preocupados por la educación en salud de forma creativa.”
AbortionFinder
Despite the growing confusion around reproductive health, we found that one of our simplest AbortionFinder social media videos this quarter became one of our most powerful. With just a cup of coffee and a clear message: “Abortion is normal. Your body, your timeline — always.” The post has organically reached over 180,000 views.
The quiet tone and straightforward language resonated with people looking for reassurance in a climate that often makes talking about abortion feel chaotic. Through moments like this, AbortionFinder continues to build an abortion-positive community of thousands of supporters online – one that makes space for honesty, compassion, and care, even during these challenging times.
As we head into the final stretch of the year (and gear up to celebrate Thanks, Birth Control Day on November 12th), we’ll continue to spark conversations and build community. Stay in the loop on the latest news, resources, and updates by following us on social media and signing up for Power Pulse.
