Development Operations Manager

What’s your role at Power to Decide and what brought you to our organization?

I am the Development Operations Manager at Power to Decide. I manage the behind-the-scenes systems and processes that support fundraising at Power to Decide. I make sure our donor database runs smoothly, track donations accurately, and help our organization use data to make strategic decisions about how we raise money. I have worked in nonprofit Development in some capacity since I graduated from college almost 10 years ago. After the fall of Roe v. Wade, I was desperate to feel like I was making a difference in the reproductive health space, and I happened to see the posting for my position at Power to Decide online. It seemed like a perfect combination of my professional experience and my personal interests, so I made the leap and have been here for over two years now.

What fuels your passion for advancing reproductive well-being?

As a teenager growing up in a small rural town I had very little in the way of sexual education. It was a step above abstinence only. I so wish I had a tool like Bedsider, AbortionFinder, and the type of accurate, stigma-free information Power to Decide provides. I feel strongly that being in control of your sexual health helps you take control of your future. In a time when reproductive and sexual health care is under attack, I hope to do a small part to push back.

In the last year, what work at Power to Decide excited you most?

I have been loving all our amazing content on social media, especially our #AskBedsider series. The rise of misinformation around birth control is truly astonishing and I love that our content can push back against that and provide accessible, accurate information. So many young people get their information online, and being a trusted voice meeting people where they are is so important right now.

What’s a piece of behind-the-scenes work with Power to Decide that you’re proud of?

Two years ago, I spearheaded an effort to move to a new donation platform. It is probably a seemingly small change for anyone looking at our donation page, but it has proven to be exponentially more reliable and hopefully provides an easy, smooth experience for our generous donors.

Can you name one thing outside of work that gives you joy?

Summer! I love being able to get outside as much as possible. I will be spending the next few months soaking up the sun at the lake, the farmer’s market, and at a baseball game with a hot dog.
